B&W Type 6040 Empty Black
B&W Type 6040 Empty Black | A hard case for careful transport
A soft bag is the usual way to carry camera gear, but it’s not the format I’d choose when knocks, dust or rain are part of the journey. The B&W Type 6040 Empty Black is an empty hard case for transporting or storing equipment that needs a more protective enclosure. It suits photographers and other gear owners who want to choose what goes inside, rather than buy a case already filled with a set of equipment. Use it to keep selected gear together while moving it or putting it away between jobs. The practical appeal is straightforward: you get a hard case, and you decide what it carries. Its black finish gives it a plain, understated look. Since the case is supplied empty, you’ll need to plan the contents yourself; the product information doesn’t specify an interior layout, so I wouldn’t buy it on the assumption that it has fitted compartments for a particular camera or lens.
Specialist Note
“Does the B&W Type 6040 Empty Black come with camera gear inside?” No—it’s an empty hard case, so you choose what to store or transport in it. I’d consider it for keeping selected equipment together during a move, or for putting gear away when dust or rain is a concern. The hard-case format is the reason to choose it over a soft bag when knocks are part of the handling; the empty format means you aren’t paying for a preselected kit of contents. One point to keep in mind: you’ll need to decide how your own gear should sit inside, since no interior arrangement is specified.”
