Caruba Deep Parabolic Softbox 90cm

Caruba Deep Parabolic Softbox 90cm | Soft, even light for portraits

Portraits get soft, even illumination with the Caruba Deep Parabolic Softbox 90cm. Its 90 cm diameter and 70 cm depth give it a deep shape that produces a gentle look, rather than hard-edged light. It’s made for portrait photographers using Bowens-compatible flash units, with two diffusers included to vary the softness of the output. That makes it a useful modifier for close portraits, where smooth light across the face matters, and for portraits framed a little wider, where even illumination across the subject is important. The parabolic profile is the defining detail: this isn’t a shallow panel, and its depth is part of how it shapes the light. Caruba describes the design as durable and reliable. The size and depth do take up space in a studio, but the supplied carry bag gives you a place to store and transport the softbox between shoots.

Why it is useful

• Deep parabolic shape: The 70 cm profile produces soft, even light. It’s a good fit for portraits where a broad, gentle source is preferable to hard-looking illumination.
• Gentler shadow transition: Light falls into shadow gradually, rather than ending in a sharp edge. That gives facial shading a smoother appearance in portrait photographs.
• Two supplied diffusers: The diffusers add options for controlling the softness of the light. Use them to adjust the look for a close portrait or for a frame showing more of the subject.
• Bowens speedring: The included speedring is for Bowens flash units. It connects the softbox to a compatible studio flash in that system.
• Durable, reliable design: Caruba describes the softbox as durable and reliable, a useful detail for a modifier that gets packed away and brought out for shoots.
