Comica Omnidirectional LAV Microphone 120cm Cable 3.5mm CVM-M-01 (COM-CVMM01)
Comica Omnidirectional LAV Microphone 120cm Cable 3.5mm CVM-M-01 | Keep spoken audio close to the speaker
Without a separate microphone, speech is often picked up from wherever the camera happens to be. The Comica CVM-M-01 is a lavalier microphone for bringing the audio pickup closer to the person speaking, which can make it a practical option for video where clear dialogue matters. It suits presenters, interviewers and anyone recording a spoken piece to camera, especially when the camera needs to sit farther away than the speaker. Its small, focused role is simple: capture a person’s voice as part of an audio or video setup, rather than relying on the camera’s position to do the job. It’s worth keeping expectations in proportion: this is a wired microphone, so it suits a setup where the recording device can stay within cable reach. For a single speaker talking to camera or a seated interview, that straightforward arrangement can be easier to manage than placing the whole camera close to the conversation.
Setting up your recording
The 120cm cable gives you some room to position the microphone and recording device separately, while still keeping them fairly close. Its 3.5mm connection is for equipment with a suitable microphone input. Before recording, make a short test and listen back: that’s a simple way to check that the microphone is being used as the audio source and that the speaker’s voice is coming through as intended.
Specialist Note
“Is the Comica CVM-M-01 suitable for recording one person speaking? Yes, that’s the kind of job I’d consider it for. Because it’s omnidirectional, it picks up sound from around the microphone rather than needing the speaker to talk into one specific side; I’d still place it close to the person speaking for a more direct voice recording. The 120cm cable gives you a little flexibility, but it also means the recorder needs to stay nearby, so I wouldn’t plan a setup with the camera far across a room. For a seated interview or a presenter recording at a desk, it’s a simple wired option. Just make sure your recording device has a suitable 3.5mm microphone input.”
