Formatt Hitech FC 105mm Superslim Stackable Cir.pol.
Formatt Hitech FC 105mm Superslim Stackable Cir.pol. | Control reflections with a slim, stackable filter
Reflections on water or glass can obscure the detail you want to photograph. The Formatt Hitech FC 105mm Superslim Stackable Cir.pol. is a circular polarizing filter that helps reduce those reflections, and can also deepen blue skies when the light and your shooting angle are right. It’s suited to landscape and architectural photographers, and to anyone who regularly photographs through or around reflective surfaces. The 105mm size is for a filter setup built around that diameter, while its superslim, stackable design is useful when you want to combine filters without adding a bulky-looking stack. A polarizer’s effect changes as you turn it and as your position relative to the light changes, so you can fine-tune the result as you compose. It won’t remove every reflection, but it gives you a direct way to manage them in-camera rather than relying on editing later.
Specialist Note
“Will this 105mm circular polarizer help with reflections?” Yes: it can reduce glare from surfaces such as water and glass, and you can adjust the effect by turning the filter as you look at your composition. The 105mm diameter means you’ll need a setup that takes this filter size; it’s a substantial format, so plan your filter arrangement around it. I’d suggest it to landscape photographers working with reflective water, or to anyone photographing through shop windows. Its superslim, stackable design makes sense when you’re combining filters. Just remember that polarization depends on your angle to the light, so the effect may be subtle from some positions.
