Formatt Hitech FC 46mm Superslim Stackable UV 400 Filter
Formatt Hitech FC 46mm Superslim Stackable UV 400 Filter | UV filtration in a slim, stackable design
Out photographing in bright daylight, you may want a UV filter on the lens without adding a bulky setup. The Formatt Hitech FC 46mm Superslim Stackable UV 400 Filter is a straightforward option for photographers whose lens has a 46mm filter thread. Its UV 400 designation makes it a UV filter, rather than a filter intended to create a graduated or polarising effect. That makes it suited to photographers who want UV filtration as part of their regular lens setup. The key fit detail is the 46mm size: match that to the filter-thread marking on your lens. It’s a simple, specific filter, so its appeal is in having the UV-filtering option ready without needing to change your approach to exposure or composition. If you want a particular creative effect, you’ll need a different type of filter.
Specialist Note
This filter lets you add another compatible filter without first removing the UV filter. That’s the practical point of its stackable design: leave this one in place, then add a second filter when the situation calls for it. I’d suggest it to someone who wants UV filtration to stay in their everyday setup, especially with a 46mm-thread lens. The superslim profile keeps the filter’s build low at the front of the lens, which is a sensible way to avoid unnecessary bulk in a stacked setup. Keep in mind that this is a UV filter, not a polariser or a graduated filter; choose it for UV filtration, not for those effects.
