Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 95mm ND 0.3 (1 Stop) Filter
Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 95mm ND 0.3 (1 Stop) Filter | One stop less light for more control
To give a moving subject a little more blur or open the aperture by one step in bright conditions, an ND filter reduces the light reaching your camera. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 95mm ND 0.3 (1 Stop) Filter cuts the light by one stop, a measured, modest adjustment rather than a dramatic darkening effect. That can help you choose a slower shutter speed for flowing water or movement in a scene, while keeping the same ISO and aperture. It can also let you open the aperture by one stop when you want a shallower depth of field but your current exposure is already bright. Its 95mm size is relevant when your lens or filter setup takes that diameter. This filter suits photographers who want a small amount of exposure control and prefer to make that change with a filter, rather than relying only on camera settings.
Specialist Note
Sometimes the shutter speed you want is just a little too fast, or the aperture you want lets in more light than the scene can handle. This Firecrest gives you exactly one stop of reduction: for example, you can move from 1/125 sec to about 1/60 sec without changing ISO or aperture. That’s a gentle shift for adding motion to a stream or softening movement in a daylight scene, not the heavy blur of a multi-stop filter. The 95mm size makes it a match for setups built around that filter diameter. I’d consider it for photographers who need that precise, restrained adjustment; it won’t remove several stops of light when conditions call for a much longer exposure.
