Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft White 1/8
Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft White 1/8 | A gentle, softened look
Highlights and bright areas take on a gentler, softer character in your pictures, without making the filter’s effect the whole story. The Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft White 1/8 is a square camera filter for photographers who want a restrained softening effect in portraits, close-ups or scenes with bright light in the frame. Its Soft White 1/8 designation points to a subtle treatment, so it’s suited to images where you want a softer impression while keeping the subject clear. That makes it a considered option for portrait work, or for a scene where points of light contribute to the mood. It’s also useful when you’d rather shape the look as you make the photograph than add a softening effect later. If you prefer a strong, visibly dreamy finish, this gentle strength may be too understated.
Specialist Note
First-time owners often expect a softening filter to make the whole image look hazy; this 1/8 strength is better approached as a light touch. I’d consider it for a portrait when you want the overall rendering to feel gentler, or for a frame with bright lights where a softer impression suits the scene. The 100x100mm square format gives you a defined filter size to work with, while the glass construction makes this a physical filter rather than an effect added in editing. It suits photographers who want to shape a subtle look at capture. Keep expectations modest: for a pronounced effect, this strength may not go far enough.
