H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND16 Filter Kit 77mm

H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND16 Filter Kit 77mm | Shape exposure in bright light

The defining feature of this kit is its IRND filter designation: it’s intended for photographers who want to manage the light reaching the camera, rather than change colour or add a polarising effect. That can be useful when bright conditions would otherwise make a longer exposure or wider aperture difficult to use. It suits photographers who plan their exposures carefully, including people looking to soften the movement of water or keep a shallow depth of field outdoors. The kit’s 77mm size is relevant when matching a filter to a lens. For a long exposure, you’ll usually want a tripod and time to set your composition before adjusting the shutter speed. This is a specific filter choice for deliberate exposure control, not a general-purpose accessory for every lighting situation.

Planning a filter exposure

Decide what you want the exposure to do before fitting a filter. For a smoother look to moving water, compose and focus first, then lengthen the shutter time and keep the camera steady on a tripod. For a portrait in bright light, set the aperture you want and adjust the exposure to suit. These steps help make the filter part of a considered setup, rather than a last-minute fix.
