H&Y RevoRing Variable ND3-1000+CPL Filter MkII 46-62mm
H&Y RevoRing Variable ND3-1000+CPL Filter MkII 46-62mm | Control light and reflections
The defining choice is to combine a variable ND filter and a CPL in one filter: that gives you control over incoming light and reflections without switching between those two filter functions. The ND3-1000 range is useful when the light is too strong for the shutter speed or aperture you want to use. The CPL function can reduce reflections from surfaces such as water or glass, and help deepen a blue sky. This filter suits photographers and filmmakers working outdoors, especially when light changes or reflections are getting in the way of a shot. Its stated size range is 46–62mm, making it relevant to lenses in that range. If you’re choosing a filter for a particular lens, match its filter size to that range; the diameter matters for fit.
Specialist Note
Photographers filming moving water or working in bright daylight will get the most from this combination. The variable ND3-1000 range lets you cut light to keep a longer shutter speed for flowing water, or to hold a wider aperture outdoors without the image becoming too bright. For a shot through a window, use the CPL function to reduce reflections and make what’s beyond the glass clearer. I’d consider the 46–62mm size range carefully: it suits lenses with a filter size in that span, but won’t fit a lens outside it. It’s a practical pairing of two different kinds of light control, especially if both come up in your work.
