Hahnemühle DFA Testpack - Matt Smooth 21x29.7CM(A4)

Hahnemühle DFA Testpack - Matt Smooth 21x29.7CM(A4) | Try a smooth matt finish in A4

Choosing paper from a description alone can be a gamble: the finish that sounds right may not suit the image you want to print. This Hahnemühle DFA testpack gives you a way to try the Matt Smooth paper in A4 before committing it to a print project. It’s for anyone who wants to assess a matt, smooth surface with their own images rather than rely on guesswork. The A4 size is convenient for judging a print at a familiar page scale, and the named finish makes this pack relevant when you’re specifically considering smooth matt paper. Use it to see how that surface works with the pictures you actually print, from the tones and detail you care about to the overall look on the page. One honest point: the title identifies the finish and size, so this is a focused test of that paper type, not a comparison of different finishes.

How to assess the paper

For a useful test, choose an image you know well and print it on the Matt Smooth paper. Keep your printer settings the same as you use for other paper, then look at the result in the light where you’d normally view or display it. That gives you a practical basis for deciding whether this finish suits your work. You might also print an image with a range of tones or fine detail, so you can judge the page as a whole rather than making a decision from the paper’s name alone. There’s no need to overcomplicate it: the point of a testpack is to make your choice with a print in front of you. The pack is listed in A4, so your trial can be made at that stated size.
