Hama Network Cable CAT-6 F/UTP Gold Plated Afgeschermd Stof 3.00 M 14 PCs

Hama CAT-6 F/UTP Network Cable, 3.00 m | A direct wired network link

A wired network link gives your setup a physical connection, without relying on a wireless signal for that link. This Hama CAT-6 cable is 3.00 metres long, so it can suit a device that needs a little reach from the point where your network connection is available. It’s a straightforward option for a home or work area where you want a cable connection rather than a wireless one. The F/UTP designation and shielding identify its cable construction, while the gold-plated detail is part of the product description. The cable is black, a low-key colour among other leads. Its job is specific: make a wired network connection over a measured length. There’s no mystery to using it; the main practical question is whether 3.00 metres gives you enough room for the route you have in mind.

Choosing the cable length

Before settling on a cable, consider the path it needs to take between the connection point and the device. Measure along that route, rather than just estimating the straight-line distance; a cable may need to follow a desk edge or go around furniture. The 3.00-metre length gives you a concrete figure to work with, and can help avoid choosing a lead that’s awkwardly short for the intended placement. If the connection point is close by, this length may be more than you need; if the route is longer, it may not reach. That’s a simple but useful check when planning a wired connection. This cable’s stated category is CAT-6, and its construction is marked F/UTP, so those details are easy to compare with the requirements of your network setup.
