Ilford MGFB1K Classic 142cmx30m Ei 1R | A wide roll of photo paper

When a standard sheet is too narrow for the print you have in mind, choosing paper by its roll dimensions can make the decision clearer. The Ilford MGFB1K Classic is photo paper in a 142 cm x 30 m format, for photographers and printmakers looking for a wide, continuous length of paper. That generous width is the detail to focus on first; the 30 m length gives you a substantial roll to plan around. It’s a specialist-format product, so it makes most sense when those dimensions suit the work you’re preparing, rather than as an everyday pack of sheets. The name also identifies it as the MGFB1K Classic, which helps when you’re matching a specific paper reference in your workflow. One honest point: the title gives a precise size, but not a full description of the paper’s surface or print characteristics, so I wouldn’t guess at those. Check the dimensions against your intended output before choosing.

What to consider about the format

The 142 cm width is unusually useful information to have up front: it lets you judge the scale of the roll against the size of the prints you plan to make. The 30 m length is just as important when you’re estimating how much paper the job calls for. Together, those measurements make this a product to select by required size and quantity of paper, rather than by an assumed finish or a broad description of image style. If you’re searching for this exact Ilford reference, the full product name is worth keeping to hand so you can distinguish it from other paper listings. The supplier’s colour entry is black; that is the listed colour information, not a description of the paper’s image-making properties. For a specialist purchase, I’d keep the decision grounded in what’s clearly identified here: the Ilford MGFB1K Classic name and the 142 cm x 30 m dimensions.
