JJC F-4XSTAR62 Star Filter 62mm
JJC F-4XSTAR62 Star Filter 62mm | Turn point lights into starbursts
Bright point lights can become star-shaped highlights, adding a graphic sparkle to night scenes and festive displays. The JJC F-4XSTAR62 Star Filter 62mm is a star filter sized for a lens with a 62mm filter thread. It suits photographers who want that effect in the picture as they make it, rather than adding it later in editing. Try it with street lamps, illuminated signs or strings of small lights; the effect is most noticeable when individual lights stand out against a darker background. It can also add a decorative touch to portraits made with lights in the background, provided those lights remain visible as distinct points. This is a specialised filter, so its appeal depends on the scene: it’s for shaping bright highlights, not for changing the look of every part of a photograph. Match the 62mm size to the lens you plan to use.
Specialist Note
The 62mm size is the practical detail to start with: it tells you which lens this filter is made to fit, so match it to a lens with a 62mm filter thread. The star-filter effect is for bright points, which makes it especially useful for evening street scenes or decorative lights in a portrait background. To get a clear result, frame individual lights against a darker area rather than relying on a broad, evenly lit scene. I’d treat the star pattern as a visible part of the composition; it can draw attention, so a busy frame may feel crowded quickly. This is a focused creative effect, not an all-purpose filter.
