JJC LH SH177 Lens Hood

JJC LH SH177 Lens Hood | Reduce flare and protect the lens front

A direct replacement for Sony’s ALC-SH177, the JJC LH SH177 Lens Hood is made for the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II lens. Its shape extends beyond the lens front to screen out stray light, while the hood remains free of visible vignetting when fitted. That makes it useful when bright light comes from just outside the frame, where unwanted reflections can reduce contrast. The extended front also adds a buffer against accidental knocks, handy when working in busy spaces or carrying the lens between locations. You can fit a 82mm filter or lens cap to the hood, so those accessories remain usable with it attached. For storage, turn the hood around and mount it in reverse over the lens. It’s a straightforward way to add the functions of the original hood at a weight of just 18 grams.

Why it is useful

• Made for the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II: The fit is specific to this lens, and the hood replaces Sony’s ALC-SH177. It’s the right match for owners seeking a replacement hood for that model.
• Matte inner surface: The interior finish reduces reflections from inside the hood. That supports its job of keeping stray light from reaching the lens.
• Filter and cap compatible: The hood accepts a 82mm filter or lens cap. You can keep either accessory in use without removing the hood.
• Reversible for storage: Mount it backwards over the lens when packing away. This keeps the hood with the lens in a more compact arrangement.
• Added front protection: By extending past the lens end, the hood creates a buffer against accidental impacts. It adds a little protection without being a substitute for careful handling.

Good to know

The hood is black and measures 10.06 × 10.01 × 2.69 cm. Those measurements are useful when checking how it will fit into a camera bag or storage space alongside the lens. Its reversible mounting arrangement gives you a more compact way to pack it when you’re not shooting, rather than leaving it extended at the front of the lens.
