Laowa 4.5-10mm f/2.8 CF Zoom Fisheye - MFT (VE451028MFT)
Laowa 4.5-10mm f/2.8 CF Zoom Fisheye - MFT | Make wide scenes feel more expressive
When a regular wide-angle view feels too restrained, a fisheye can bring a much more pronounced, creative perspective to the frame. The Laowa 4.5-10mm f/2.8 CF Zoom Fisheye is an interchangeable lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras, with a zoom range that lets you adjust how much of a scene you include without changing lenses. It suits photographers and filmmakers drawn to bold, unusual framing, especially for action, architecture and creative projects. Focus is manual, so it’s best for people who are happy to set focus themselves rather than rely on autofocus. The f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful when you want to work in lower light or keep shutter speeds up for movement. This is a specialist perspective rather than a lens for natural-looking wide views; its appeal is the distinctive fisheye look and the control its zoom range gives you over the composition.
Specialist Note
The fisheye perspective won’t suit every scene, and manual focus asks you to take an active role; that’s also why this lens makes sense when you want deliberate, expressive framing. Its f/2.8 maximum aperture gives you more room to work in dimmer light or with moving subjects. For action, try starting around 1/500 sec and set focus on the part of the scene where you expect the subject to pass. For architecture, use the zoom to adjust how much of the structure fills the frame, and place important lines carefully. On a Micro Four Thirds body, the 4.5–10mm range corresponds to 9–20mm in full-frame focal-length terms. I’d recommend it to someone who actively wants that bold fisheye perspective, not as an everyday wide lens.
