Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 FF Zoom Fisheye - Fuji GFX (VE815GFX)
Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 FF Zoom Fisheye - Fuji GFX (VE815GFX) | Fisheye framing with zoom flexibility
Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 FF Zoom Fisheye - Fuji GFX (VE815GFX) gives you an 8–15mm fisheye zoom range for bold, curved perspectives. It’s made for photographers using the Fuji GFX system who want that distinctive look to shape the whole image, rather than a conventional wide-angle view. At 8mm, you can build an expansive composition with pronounced fisheye character; zooming toward 15mm gives you a less extreme view while keeping the same creative approach. That flexibility suits expressive portraits, action close to the camera and architectural scenes where curved lines are part of the design. It’s a specialist lens, so it won’t be the natural fit for everyday scenes where you want straight lines and an unobtrusive perspective. Choose it when you want to make the shape of the image an intentional part of the picture.
Specialist Note
Photographers who shoot close-up action or want buildings to curve into a graphic composition are the people I’d point toward this Laowa. On a Fuji GFX medium-format camera, the fisheye view can make a nearby subject fill the frame; for architecture, pay attention to where the important lines fall so the bending feels deliberate. The f/2.8 maximum aperture gives you a brighter setting to work with when action moves indoors or the light drops. For a skate-park scene, try 8mm for an enveloping view, then zoom toward 15mm to simplify the frame. Focus is manual, so it rewards a moment to prepare rather than a need for autofocus convenience.
