Specialist Note

Its 8mm focal length gives a Canon APS-C (EF-S) body a full-frame equivalent view of 12.8mm, which is helpful when you want foreground detail and a lot of sky in the same composition. The maximum f/3.5 aperture gives you some room to work as the light fades, though a tripod is still a sensible partner for a carefully composed landscape in low light. For architecture, keep important straight edges nearer the centre if you want to limit the fisheye curve; put them toward the edges when you want that bend to be part of the image.
