Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II Canon RF-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II Canon RF-Mount | Manual focus for street and travel
Without a zoom, you choose one focal length and work with the view it gives you. The Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II is a wide-angle prime for Canon RF cameras, suited to photographers who want to make that choice deliberately. Its 30mm view works well for street scenes and travel, where you may want to include some of the setting around your subject. It’s an interchangeable lens with manual focus, so you set focus yourself rather than relying on autofocus. That slower, more considered approach will suit some photographers more than others, particularly if they enjoy taking time over a frame. The maximum aperture is f/3.5, a practical setting to keep in mind when light is limited. If your photography centres on street moments and the places you visit, this lens gives you a single, defined view to build your pictures around.
Specialist Note
The f/3.5 maximum aperture can feel limiting when the light drops, but the Lydith makes sense if you want a fixed 30mm view and are happy to focus manually. For a street scene, set focus before the moment you want to catch, then keep your attention on the framing rather than waiting for autofocus. For travel, that 30mm angle lets you bring a subject and its surroundings into the same picture. On a Canon RF-S body, it gives a 48mm-equivalent view, which feels tighter than it does on a full-frame RF body. I’d steer you toward this lens if you enjoy working at a measured pace; fast, unpredictable action is less its territory.
