The maximum aperture is f/3.5, and the lens has a 14° angle of view, so it frames a relatively narrow section of a scene. Specialist Note

This 90mm macro is a more direct way to photograph small product details than asking a general-purpose lens to handle close-ups. On a Micro Four Thirds body, its field of view is equivalent to 180mm on full-frame, which gives you a tight view for isolating a label, finish or small part. For a product detail, start at f/3.5 when light is limited, then focus carefully on the feature you want sharp; at close distances, depth of field can be very shallow. It also suits nature details such as leaf patterns. The 14° view is narrow, so it’s less suited to broad scenes.
