Permajet Etching Rag 310GSM 36INCHES 15m

Permajet Etching Rag 310GSM 36INCHES 15m | A named paper for wide-format printing

The defining choice is Etching Rag: Permajet gives this photo paper a named paper identity, so the decision isn’t reduced to dimensions alone. It’s listed at 310gsm, with a 36-inch width and 15-metre length. The practical question is whether that format and quantity suit the prints you plan to make. It’s aimed at photographers and printmakers who are choosing paper by name and need a wide format, rather than shoppers looking for a small pack of everyday sheets. An honest point: the name and figures don’t tell you exactly how your own images will look on it. I’d base the first decision on the paper identity, weight and dimensions, then judge its visual character from a sample or a print you’ve seen. If you’re planning output around a specific printer, check that it accepts the paper’s format and weight; that’s part of the decision, not something the product name can settle.

Choosing a paper for your print plans

Start with the finished print you have in mind and work backwards: consider the space your printer needs, how you’ll handle the paper, and how much material you want available for a run of prints. Those are useful checks for any large-format paper purchase, but they don’t predict the final appearance. Weight alone can’t tell you the surface feel, colour response, contrast or drying behaviour. I wouldn’t make claims about those qualities without reliable product detail to support them. For this Permajet paper, the dependable basis for comparison is its named type and the stated measurements. If paper character is central to your choice, seeing a sample in person is a better guide than guessing from a product title.
