PolarPro 135 Series - Chroma CP Filter - 58mm | Deeper colour, fewer reflections
Bring more depth to a landscape sky and keep reflected glare from distracting from a building’s surface with the PolarPro 135 Series Chroma CP Filter, a 58mm circular polarising filter. Its polarising effect boosts contrast and colour saturation, so foliage can look more vivid and skies more pronounced. For architecture, reducing reflections can reveal more of the detail on glass and other reflective surfaces; it’s also useful around water, where glare can obscure what’s beneath the surface. The filter uses German Chroma glass, specified for resolutions up to 8K, and has a neutral colour tint. That combination is intended to keep fine image detail clear while the filter’s effect stays focused on reflections and contrast, rather than adding an obvious warm or cool cast. It’s made for digital and film photography, with a weather-resistant 6061 aluminium frame and housing for outdoor use.
Glass and construction
- German Chroma glass: The optical glass is specified to support resolutions up to 8K. That makes it suited to high-resolution image capture where preserving fine detail matters.
- Neutral colour tint: The filter is specified with a neutral tint, so it won’t deliberately shift an image warmer or cooler as it changes contrast and colour saturation.
- Fingerprint- and scratch-resistant coating: The surface coating resists fingerprints and scratches. It’s a useful detail on a filter that gets handled when fitting or removing it.
- 6061 aluminium frame: The frame is made from weather-resistant 6061 aluminium. It provides a durable metal surround for use in changing outdoor conditions.
- Weather-resistant housing: The filter housing also uses 6061 aluminium. Matching the frame and housing material gives the filter a consistent, sturdy construction.
Specialist Note
The 6061 aluminium housing gives this filter a reassuringly solid metal construction, while its weather-resistant finish is a welcome detail for landscape work outdoors. I’d point it towards someone who moves between reflective architecture and open scenery: use its circular polarising effect to reduce distracting reflections on a glass façade, or bring more colour and contrast to a landscape with sky and foliage in the frame. The neutral tint keeps that effect from becoming an obvious colour shift. It’s also specified for both digital and film photography. Just bear in mind that 58mm is a specific filter-thread size, so the lens needs a matching thread to take it.
