PolarPro Goldstache Filter - 49mm Threaded
PolarPro Goldstache Filter - 49mm Threaded | Tame reflections and deepen color
Without a polarizing filter, reflections on glass and water can compete with the subject, and a bright sky may look washed out. The PolarPro Goldstache is a threaded 49mm polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over those effects while shooting, rather than trying to correct every reflection later. It’s especially useful for scenes with windows, water, or a blue sky: rotate the filter as you compose and watch how the reflections and sky change. The effect depends on your angle to the light, so it won’t look the same from every viewpoint. This is a practical option for anyone with a lens that takes a 49mm filter and who enjoys making those adjustments in-camera. Use it when the view has glare or a flat-looking sky; for scenes without either, you may prefer to leave it off and keep the image as it is.
Specialist Note
For a 49mm-threaded lens aimed through a shop window, I’d turn the Goldstache slowly while checking the view until the reflections ease without losing the scene behind the glass. Its 49mm thread gives you a clear fit requirement: the lens needs a matching 49mm filter thread. And because it’s a polarizing filter, it can also help bring more definition to a blue sky; adjust it while framing rather than expecting the same result at every angle to the sun. It suits landscape and everyday travel photography where glare is part of the scene. One limitation: it won’t remove reflections from metal, so it’s best for glass, water, and sky.
