Radius Puffer Urchin LAV Windshield Foam Core Black (Single)
Radius Puffer Urchin LAV Windshield Foam Core Black (Single) | Foam wind protection for lav mics
The foam core is the defining choice: it gives this lavalier windshield a soft barrier between the microphone and moving air. That’s the practical job of a windshield, helping reduce wind noise before it reaches the mic. The Puffer Urchin is made for LAV use, so it’s aimed at people recording speech with a lavalier microphone rather than those looking for a cover for a larger microphone. Its black finish keeps the look discreet alongside dark clothing and equipment. Use it for interviews, presentations or other spoken recordings where a lav mic needs some wind protection. The product is supplied as a single windshield, making it a straightforward option when you need one cover for a mic setup. It’s a focused accessory: its value is in adding a foam windscreen to a lavalier, not in adding controls or changing how you record.
Specialist Note
In use, this is a simple one-piece addition to a lav setup: you can concentrate on placing the microphone and recording, rather than managing a multi-part windshield. I’d consider it for an interview or a spoken presentation when airflow is a concern; keep the mic positioned clear of clothing so fabric doesn’t rub against it. The foam core is the useful detail here, because the windshield’s job is to put a soft barrier in front of the mic. Its black finish is a sensible match for a dark outfit or discreet mic placement. You get one windshield, so it suits a single-mic setup; it isn’t a multi-pack.
