Revar Cine 138mm / 30mm Close-Up Compression Diopter +2
Revar Cine 138mm / 30mm Close-Up Compression Diopter +2 | Bring cine lenses into closer focus
The defining choice is the +2 close-up diopter: it adds close-focusing power for cine work where a lens needs to frame a subject more tightly. That makes this Revar Cine accessory suited to cinematographers planning close detail shots, from a small prop to texture that would otherwise occupy less of the frame. Rather than changing the lens itself, the diopter gives you a way to work closer while keeping your chosen cine lens in the setup. The product name also specifies 138mm / 30mm, a designation to keep in mind when planning the rig. This is a focused tool for deliberate close-up work, not a general-purpose filter. If your shot list calls for an occasional close insert, its fixed +2 strength gives you a clear starting point; for frequent changes between distances, you’ll want to plan each setup around that close-up use.
Specialist Note
Cinematographers shooting tight prop inserts or surface detail are the people I’d point toward this Revar Cine. The +2 diopter is a fixed close-up strength, so it suits a planned shot where you want to bring the subject nearer; you can’t vary that strength from shot to shot. For a detail insert, compose around the small feature you want viewers to notice, then adjust focus on the cine lens to shape the close framing. The 138mm / 30mm designation is the other detail I’d keep in your rig notes, so you can plan around the exact format named for this diopter. It’s a specialised piece for close work, rather than an all-purpose option.
