Rogue Flash Gels - Combo Filter Kit
Rogue Flash Gels - Combo Filter Kit | Add colour to flash lighting
Using gels to change the colour of flash gives you a direct way to shape the colour in a photograph. Rogue Flash Gels - Combo Filter Kit is for photographers who want to bring coloured flash into portrait, product or still-life work, or introduce colour into a scene with flash. The idea is simple: use a gel with your flash to create a coloured light effect, then adjust the rest of the scene around the result. That makes this kit relevant when colour is part of the image you’re building, rather than something you want to leave entirely to editing. It suits both planned setups and small experiments at home or in a studio. The title identifies it as a combo filter kit, so it’s aimed at photographers who want a selection of flash-gel options in one kit, rather than a single colour filter.
Specialist Note
Setup can stay focused: start with one flash and use a gel to add colour to a specific part of the frame. I’d try this for a coloured accent in a portrait, or to give a still-life background a tint while keeping the subject lit separately. The product is explicitly a set of flash gels, and the “Combo Filter Kit” name makes it a good fit if you want more than one filter option to explore. Keep the light placement and the colour choice simple at first; it’s easier to judge what the gel is contributing. One limitation to bear in mind: a gel changes the flash colour, but it doesn’t control the shape of the light by itself.
