Rycote 7cm Short Fur Softie (19/22)
Rycote 7cm Short Fur Softie (19/22) | Helps tame wind noise outdoors
Wind is less likely to swamp a spoken line when your microphone is covered by the Rycote 7cm Short Fur Softie. It’s a furry microphone accessory designed to help control wind noise, making it useful for outdoor interviews, location dialogue and recording ambience. The short-fur design keeps the cover compact, while the 7cm length gives you a specific size to consider when choosing a Softie for your setup. The 19/22 designation is the key sizing detail: match it to the microphone you plan to use it with. This is a practical option for sound recordists and video makers who need to work outside and want a dedicated wind cover close at hand. It can help with moving air, but it won’t make a blustery location quiet; microphone placement and the conditions around you still matter.
Specialist Note
7 cm is the length to keep in mind here: this is a short Softie, rather than a long cover extending well beyond the microphone. The 19/22 sizing is just as important in practice, so match that designation to your mic before choosing it. I’d consider it for outdoor dialogue or a quick piece to camera: fit the Softie over the microphone, then position the mic close enough to the speaker that their voice stays clear in the recording. It’s a focused wind cover, not a fix for strong gusts, so I’d still look for shelter when the weather turns rough.
