Rycote Duck Raincover 2
Rycote Duck Raincover 2 | A raincover for microphone use
Rain can interrupt a recording before you’ve had time to pack away a microphone. The Rycote Duck Raincover 2 is a microphone raincover for situations where you need to keep working outdoors and want a cover intended for rainy conditions. Its name gives you the key information: it’s a Rycote raincover, designed for microphone use, and this is version 2. That makes it relevant to location sound work where changing weather is part of the job, from an outdoor interview to recording at an event. The practical reason to consider it is straightforward: have a dedicated raincover available rather than leaving the microphone exposed when rain arrives. The product details here don’t establish a particular microphone fit or level of rain protection, so treat those as points to verify for your setup before relying on it in demanding weather.
Specialist Note
The word “Raincover” is the useful detail here: it tells you this Rycote accessory is meant to put a cover between a microphone and rainy conditions. I’d consider it for outdoor interviews or event recording where a shower could otherwise stop the session; keep it ready with your location sound gear so it’s to hand when the weather changes. The name also identifies this as the Duck Raincover 2, rather than a general-purpose piece of kit. I can’t responsibly promise a fit for a particular microphone or a specific degree of protection from the information available, so match it to your microphone and the conditions you expect before depending on it.
