SanDisk CFexpress Extreme Pro 256GB (4.0 / Type B / 3.700.MB/s)

SanDisk CFexpress Extreme Pro 256GB (4.0 / Type B / 3,700 MB/s) | Fast, high-capacity CFexpress media

The defining choice is CFexpress 4.0 in Type B format: this card is aimed at a workflow that calls for that specific combination. The SanDisk CFexpress Extreme Pro has 256GB of capacity and a stated speed of 3,700 MB/s, making it relevant to photographers and video makers choosing media for demanding capture or transfer work. It’s worth considering if your planned files and shooting habits call for a card in this capacity, and your equipment is designed for CFexpress Type B. The appeal is straightforward: the format, generation and capacity are clearly identified, so you can compare them with the media requirements of your setup. One honest caveat: a speed figure alone doesn’t tell you how much footage or how many images 256GB will hold. File sizes and recording settings affect that. Treat the format as a specific requirement, not a general promise of compatibility.

When deciding whether 256GB suits your work, think about the length of your shoots and how large your files tend to be. A card that gives you comfortable room for a typical session may be less convenient on a longer one, especially if you prefer not to pause and manage storage. There’s no single capacity that suits every workflow; the useful question is how you actually shoot and when you can offload your files.

It also helps to separate the speed number from the rest of your workflow. Media choice is one part of a capture setup, and the result you get depends on the equipment and settings involved. If CFexpress Type B and version 4.0 are the requirements you’re working to, those labels make this card easy to assess on that basis. If your needs are different, the name alone won’t make it the right match.
