The Sirui 50mm T2.9 1.6X FullFrame Anamorphic Lens (E Mount) gives filmmakers a 1.6X anamorphic image to shape into a widescreen presentation in post-production. It’s built for video makers who want deliberate, cinematic framing on a full-frame camera with a Sony E mount. The lens is suited to narrative filmmaking, interviews and other considered shots where composition and focus can be managed carefully. Its full-frame coverage lets you use the sensor area this lens is designed for, while the anamorphic format offers a different approach to composing a wide image than a conventional spherical lens. This is a specialist manual-focus lens, so it makes most sense for filmmakers who can take time over a shot or work with a focus puller. It’s best used where that measured process can serve the scene.

Specialist Note

Filmmakers framing dialogue, portraits or carefully composed interior scenes are the people I’d point towards this Sirui. Its 50mm focal length gives you a considered angle for a single subject; for a dialogue shot, compose the frame first, then use manual focus to keep attention where you want it. The T2.9 maximum aperture is useful when you’re working in a dim room, since opening up lets more light reach the sensor. I’d plan focus marks or allow time for a deliberate pull: manual focus asks for operator input, so this isn’t the lens I’d choose for fast, unpredictable action. For controlled filmmaking, that trade-off can be worthwhile.
