SMDV FREE-7S Set
SMDV FREE-7S Set | Trigger off-camera flash for portraits
Without a dedicated flash trigger, placing light away from the camera can be awkward. The SMDV FREE-7S Set is a flash transmitter for firing off-camera flashes, giving portrait and product photographers more freedom over where the light comes from. For a portrait, place the flash to one side to give the face more shape. For a product shot, move it off-axis to bring out the subject’s form. In both cases, the point is to position the flash for the picture rather than keep it at the camera. This is a focused tool for photographers who already use off-camera flash and want a transmitter for firing it. It’s especially suited to controlled portrait sessions and product photography, where small changes in light position can make a visible difference.
Specialist Note
Does the SMDV FREE-7S Set trigger an off-camera flash for portraits and product work? Yes: it’s a flash transmitter, and that’s its role. I’d recommend it to someone shaping a portrait with a flash placed to the side, or photographing a product with the light moved off-axis to reveal its form. Keep the camera where you want it, then position the flash to suit the subject; the transmitter is there to fire it. Its black colour is visually discreet among camera gear. One practical point: this is a trigger, not a light source, so you’ll need an off-camera flash to provide the illumination.
