Thypoch Simera-C 16mm T1.9 FF Prime Cine Lens M-Mount
Thypoch Simera-C 16mm T1.9 FF Prime Cine Lens M-Mount | Wide views for considered cine work
In a tight interior, or when the scene needs to feel expansive, a very wide lens can make the shot possible without pushing the camera far back. The Thypoch Simera-C 16mm T1.9 is an interchangeable cine prime for Leica M, designed for full-frame coverage. Its ultra-wide view is suited to filmmakers who want to show a location, hold a subject within a broad setting, or build a strong sense of space in a moving image. The estimated 107° angle of view gives you plenty of the scene in frame, so you can work close to a subject while keeping its surroundings visible. Focus is manual, which suits a measured approach to setting focus for each shot. This is a specialist lens for video and filmmaking, particularly when a standard view feels too tight and moving the camera isn’t practical.
Specialist Note
Getting the whole room into frame can be difficult when there’s nowhere to step back; this 16mm gives you a much wider view to work with. I’d point it toward filmmakers who want location-setting shots or a close foreground subject with plenty of context around it. The T1.9 maximum aperture gives you room to open up when light is limited, while the full-frame format keeps that broad view on a full-frame Leica M setup. For a quiet interior scene, set focus manually with care and use the wide framing to place a person against the space around them. One thing to watch: a wide view includes a lot, so edges and background details need deliberate placement.
