Tiffen 44CLRP 4x4 Clear Premium Filter
Tiffen 44CLRP 4x4 Clear Premium Filter | A clear option for 4x4 filter setups
When you want a clear filter in a setup built around 4x4 filters, the Tiffen 44CLRP is a straightforward option to consider. It’s a Tiffen Clear Premium Filter, and the product name identifies its format as 4x4. The shop category places it under UV filters. That makes it relevant to photographers looking for a clear filter rather than one chosen to add a visible colour or other creative effect. Its appeal is in that simple role: a clearly identified filter type and format, without extra features to weigh up. It suits photographers who already work with 4x4 filters and want a clear option alongside more visibly effect-driven filters. If you’re building a filter selection from scratch, start by checking that 4x4 is the format your setup uses; the format is the key detail to match.
Choosing a clear filter
A clear filter is for a different job from a filter chosen to visibly alter colour or contrast. The 44CLRP’s name gives you two useful reference points when comparing options: it’s clear, and it’s 4x4. It’s listed in the UV filter category, too. Keep those details in mind when deciding whether this is the kind of filter you need; the title alone doesn’t establish other performance characteristics, so I’d avoid choosing it for a specific effect.
Specialist Note
The Tiffen 44CLRP gives a 4x4 filter setup a clear option when you don’t want a visible creative effect. I’d point it out to someone who already uses 4x4 filters and wants a plain filter in that format, rather than assuming it will suit a different filter system. Its clear designation is useful when you want to keep the look of the image natural; the 4x4 format gives you a concrete detail to match against your existing setup. It’s also listed as a UV filter, so it may suit a customer shopping specifically in that category. I wouldn’t choose it for a strong colour or contrast change: that isn’t what “clear” suggests.
