Tiffen 6666BLUESTREAK2 6.6x6.6 Blue Streak 2mm Filter
Tiffen 6666BLUESTREAK2 6.6x6.6 Blue Streak 2mm Filter | Add blue streaks around bright lights
Bright lights can take on a defined blue streak in your frame, adding a deliberate graphic accent without making the whole scene look blue. The Tiffen Blue Streak 2mm is a creative-effects filter for photographers and filmmakers who want that look in-camera, especially when bright light sources are part of the composition. Its 6.6 x 6.6 format gives you a square filter to work with, while the Blue Streak effect is aimed at shaping how prominent lights appear in the image. Use it for night scenes, illuminated signs or stage lighting, where a streak can become part of the composition rather than an incidental flare. It’s a specialised effect, not an everyday colour correction filter; the result depends on having suitable bright lights in the frame. If you’re building a controlled, stylised look around those sources, this filter gives you a direct way to pursue it.
Specialist Note
New users sometimes expect a blue filter to tint the whole picture; this one is for creating a blue streak effect around bright lights, so composition matters. I’d use it with a bright sign or a stage light in the frame and arrange the shot so the light has room to read as a visual feature. The 6.6 x 6.6 format is a substantial square filter, so think about the full frame as you position and compose. The 2mm designation identifies this particular Blue Streak version; choose it for the specific effect you want, rather than as a general-purpose filter. It suits image-makers with a clear, stylised lighting idea, but it won’t add much when there are no strong lights to work with.
