Tiffen W127UCP 127mm Ultra Circular Polarizer
Tiffen W127UCP 127mm Ultra Circular Polarizer | Reduce reflections in your pictures
Reflections on water and glass can be reduced, while skies and foliage can take on stronger colour. The Tiffen W127UCP is a circular polarizing filter: rotate it as you frame the scene to adjust the effect. It’s most useful when glare is distracting you from the subject, such as when photographing through a shop window or looking down at water. The result depends on the light and your shooting angle, so it’s a filter to adjust while you compose rather than set and forget. This 127mm model suits photographers whose lens accepts a filter of that size. It’s a specialist diameter, so the key practical question is whether it matches the lens you intend to use. If it does, this filter gives you a direct way to manage reflections and contrast in the frame, without relying on editing to recreate the effect.
Specialist Note
The Tiffen W127UCP is best at reducing distracting reflections in a scene. Its 127mm size means it’s for a lens with a matching filter fitting, so I’d start by checking which lens you want to use it on; this isn’t a filter size to assume will suit your other lenses. The circular polarizer can be turned to vary the effect, which is handy for adjusting glare on glass or water as you frame the shot. It can also deepen a blue sky when the shooting angle is right. One honest point: the effect changes with the light and angle, and some reflections will remain.
