Tilta MB-T17-TSF Top Flag For Mirage Pro Matte Box
Tilta MB-T17-TSF Top Flag For Mirage Pro Matte Box | Shade light from above
The defining job of the Tilta MB-T17-TSF is to act as a top flag for the Mirage Pro Matte Box, helping shade the lens from unwanted light coming from above. It suits filmmakers who are using that matte box and want a straightforward way to manage overhead light while composing a shot. This is most useful when bright light above the scene risks causing flare or lowering contrast: the flag gives you a way to shield the lens from that direction without changing the framing. As a dedicated accessory rather than a matte box in itself, it makes sense when the Mirage Pro is already part of your setup. The name is specific, too: this is the top flag for the Mirage Pro Matte Box, not a general-purpose camera accessory. If overhead light is the problem you’re trying to control, this is the part to consider.
Specialist Note
The Tilta MB-T17-TSF is for shading the lens from above when you’re using the Mirage Pro Matte Box. I’d consider it for outdoor filming in strong overhead sun, or for a scene with a bright ceiling light near the frame: position the top flag to shade the lens and watch for a reduction in unwanted flare. The Mirage Pro name matters here; this is a specific addition to that matte box, so it’s best suited to someone building out that setup. One honest limitation: a top flag addresses light from above, not every angle of stray light. For that job, it’s a focused piece of kit rather than an all-round light shield.
