Tokina 105mm Pro IRND 0.3
Tokina 105mm Pro IRND 0.3 | One-stop light control for your setup
Bright light can leave you with a shutter speed that’s too fast for the motion you want to show, or make it harder to keep a chosen exposure setting. The Tokina 105mm Pro IRND 0.3 is a neutral-density filter for photographers and video makers who want a modest, measured reduction in light. Its 0.3 density corresponds to one stop, giving you a simple adjustment rather than a heavy cut. That makes it useful when you want a little more room to slow your shutter or hold an exposure choice without changing the scene’s lighting. The 105mm designation makes this a filter for setups built around that size, so it’s important that your lens or filter holder accepts a 105mm filter. The IRND name identifies its infrared-aware neutral-density type. Choose it when a one-stop change is enough; it’s a gentle adjustment, not a solution for dramatically extending exposures in strong daylight.
Specialist Note
For a moving-water frame at 1/60 sec, I’d use the 0.3 density to bring the shutter to 1/30 sec while keeping the aperture and ISO unchanged. That one-stop step gives motion a little more room without making a large exposure change. The 105mm size is the other detail to plan around: it suits a setup designed to take that filter size, so it’s worth choosing as part of the rig rather than assuming it fits any lens. I’d point this toward photographers and video makers who need a small exposure adjustment and want an IRND filter. Its limit is straightforward: one stop won’t tame very bright conditions on its own.
