Tokina 112mm Pro IRND 0.6
Tokina 112mm Pro IRND 0.6 | Two-stop light reduction
The IRND designation is the key distinction here: this Tokina is a neutral-density filter intended for use where infrared behaviour matters alongside light reduction. It suits filmmakers and still photographers who need to cut the light reaching the camera without changing their chosen aperture or ISO. A 0.6 density corresponds to two stops, a modest reduction that can help you use a slower shutter in bright conditions or keep a wider aperture when you want less depth of field. It’s best for controlled adjustments rather than dramatic long exposures: two stops gives you room to refine exposure, but won’t turn a bright daytime scene into a very long exposure on its own. The 112mm format makes it a specialist-sized filter for setups that take that size; it’s worth matching the filter to your lens and support system before planning a shoot.
Specialist Note
0.6 means two stops less light in practice: at the same aperture and ISO, a shutter speed of 1/250 sec becomes about 1/60 sec. That’s useful when you want a little more motion in a stream or need to hold a wider aperture in bright light. The 112mm size is for a lens setup that accepts that filter size, so plan around your actual front end rather than assuming it will fit every lens. I’d consider this Tokina for measured exposure adjustments, not for very long daylight exposures; two stops alone has a clear limit there.
