It’s a manual-focus interchangeable lens for photographers who want a distinctive fisheye look rather than a neutral rendering. Use it for creative portraits with space around the subject, action close to the camera, or architectural compositions where sweeping lines are part of the expression. The f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful when you’re working in dimmer light or want more flexibility with shutter speed. This lens suits photographers who enjoy making perspective part of the image, and who are happy to focus deliberately. Its silver finish brings a distinctive look to your setup.

Specialist Note

For an indoor skate session, I’d start at f/2.8 and try 1/1000 sec, then raise ISO as needed to keep the rider crisp. Get close to the action: the fisheye perspective makes the nearest part of the scene feel especially large, so placing the rider near the centre can help keep the edges from taking over. Manual focus works well if you pre-focus on a spot on the course and let the movement come to you. On a Sony APS-C body, the framing is roughly equivalent to 16.5mm on full frame, so the effect feels less extreme than on a full-frame body. I’d recommend it to someone who wants that immersive look; for straight, undistorted architecture, the fisheye rendering is a limitation.
