Urth 46mm ND64 (6 Stop) Lens Filter Pro

Urth 46mm ND64 (6 Stop) Lens Filter Pro | Longer exposures in bright light

Without a neutral density filter, bright daylight can leave you choosing between a fast shutter speed and a narrower aperture. The Urth ND64 gives you another way to manage exposure: reduce the light reaching the camera so you can use a longer shutter speed in conditions where that would otherwise be difficult. It suits photographers who want motion to show in an image, such as softening the look of moving water or giving drifting clouds more movement. It can also help when you want to keep a chosen aperture in bright light. This filter’s strength makes it particularly relevant when a small exposure adjustment won’t be enough. You’ll need to account for the reduced light when setting exposure, so it’s best used with a clear idea of the shutter speed or aperture you want to keep.

Where the ND64 helps

The ND64 reduces incoming light by a factor of 64, which gives you room to work with longer exposures in daylight. For a waterfall, that can mean choosing a slower shutter speed to blur the moving water rather than freezing each splash. For clouds, a longer exposure can record their movement across the frame. The effect depends on how quickly the subject moves and how long you expose, so it’s worth choosing the result you want before setting the camera.
