Urth 77mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 77mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+ | Soft, atmospheric highlights
The magnetic attachment is the defining design choice: it makes this filter quick to put on or take off when you want to change the look of a scene. The Ethereal Black Mist designation points to a soft, atmospheric rendering, especially around bright highlights. That makes it worth considering for portraits, where a gentle glow can soften the feel of a bright background, and for evening scenes with visible lamps or other light sources. It’s an effect filter, so it changes the character of the image rather than serving as a neutral protective layer. The 77mm size identifies the filter diameter, while the magnetic fitting is the practical part of its design. If you enjoy a more polished, softly luminous look in camera, this Urth gives you a direct way to explore it without relying on editing alone.
Specialist Note
Portrait photographers who like a softer glow around bright windows or lamps are the people I’d point towards this filter. With the 77mm size, match it to a lens that takes 77mm filters; that number is the key detail when choosing the right fit. The magnetic attachment makes it easier to take the filter off when you want a cleaner, sharper-looking frame, then bring the mist effect back for a scene with prominent highlights. For portraits, keep a bright background light in the composition and let the filter’s character show there. I’d treat the effect as a creative choice rather than an everyday setting: if you want crisp, neutral rendering in every frame, this isn’t the look to leave on by default.
