Urth 95mm Ethereal 1/4 Diffusion Lens Filter (Plus+)
Urth 95mm Ethereal 1/4 Diffusion Lens Filter (Plus+) | Add a softly diffused look
Highlights and fine detail take on a softer, more atmospheric character with the Urth Ethereal 1/4 Diffusion Lens Filter. It’s a creative filter for photographers who want diffusion as part of the image, rather than a crisp, neutral rendering in every frame. Portraits are a natural use: the effect can lend a gentler feel to faces and bright areas in the scene. It also suits still-life and detail work when you want a less clinical look. The 1/4 designation points to a measured diffusion effect, making this a considered option if you want a visible creative touch without choosing a stronger grade. The filter is marked 95mm, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread. That size is worth bearing in mind when choosing which lens to use it with. If your style leans toward polished, sharply defined detail throughout, diffusion may not be the look you want; this filter is for shaping the mood of an image.
Specialist Note
The Urth 95mm Ethereal 1/4 Diffusion Lens Filter is best at bringing a gentle, atmospheric softness to portraits. Its 1/4 strength makes sense when you want diffusion to contribute to the picture without making it the whole story. I’d consider it for a portrait with a bright window or for still life with distinct highlights: compose so those bright areas remain in the frame, and let the filter shape their presence. The 95mm size is a practical point, too: it suits a lens with a 95mm filter thread, so it won’t be a fit for a lens with a different thread size. It’s a creative look, not a neutral filter for every situation.
