7Artisans 120mm T2.9 Macro 2x Canon R-Mount
7Artisans 120mm T2.9 Macro 2x Canon R-Mount | Fine detail, carefully framed
Small details can take over the frame, revealing the texture of a product or a fine pattern in nature. The 7Artisans 120mm T2.9 Macro 2x is an interchangeable cinema lens for Canon RF cameras, designed for close-up work where precise focus matters. Its 2x macro magnification lets a subject appear larger than life on the sensor, making it suited to detailed product images and close studies of plants or other natural subjects. You set focus manually, so you can place the sharp area exactly where you want it rather than relying on autofocus to choose. The 120mm focal length gives you a tighter view, useful when you want to isolate a small subject in the composition. It’s a considered tool for photographers and filmmakers who are comfortable focusing by hand and want macro detail to be the point of the image.
Specialist Note
The 7Artisans 120mm T2.9 Macro 2x is at its best when you want tiny product details to fill the frame. At 2x magnification, a small label, finish or surface mark can become the main subject; I’d use manual focus and make fine adjustments to the camera position to place the sharp plane precisely. The maximum T2.9 aperture gives you room to work when light is limited, but close-up depth of field can be very thin wide open. For a product shot where more of the object needs to look sharp, use a smaller aperture than T2.9 and keep the camera steady. It suits patient, deliberate work more than quick reframing.
