Black Lion Audio Micro Clock MkIII Word Clock Generator
Black Lion Audio Micro Clock MkIII Word Clock Generator | A dedicated timing reference for digital audio
Without a dedicated word clock generator, a digital audio setup has to take its timing reference from somewhere else in the system. The Black Lion Audio Micro Clock MkIII is a specialist piece of audio gear for providing that reference; it isn’t a microphone or a way to change microphone tone. It suits recording and production setups where digital timing is part of the workflow and you want a unit specifically named for that job. Its appeal is its clear, focused purpose: a word clock generator rather than a general studio accessory. That makes it worth considering when you’re planning how timing will be handled in a digital rig, or identifying a dedicated clock generator as part of the equipment. It’s a narrow role, so it makes most sense when your setup actually calls for word clock. If your immediate need is a microphone or an accessory that alters its sound, this isn’t the tool for that.
Specialist Note
This won’t add a new sound to your microphones, so I wouldn’t buy it expecting a change in tone. Its purpose is more specific: the Micro Clock MkIII is a word clock generator, for a setup where you want a dedicated timing reference. I’d consider it for a digital recording or production rig where clocking is already part of the way you work, rather than as a first microphone accessory. When you’re writing up or discussing the studio equipment, use the full MkIII name—the III is the model’s Mark 3 designation—so it’s clear which Black Lion Audio unit you mean. It’s a focused purchase, and that focus is exactly the reason to choose it.
