Buteo Photo Gear Snoot / Lens Cover Light Brown For Hide

Buteo Photo Gear Snoot / Lens Cover Light Brown For Hide | Keep your lens discreet at the hide

Its light-brown finish gives this snoot / lens cover a hide-focused purpose: helping keep the lens less conspicuous while you photograph from a hide. It’s aimed at photographers who work from a hide and want a cover that suits that setting, rather than a general-purpose camera accessory. Use it when you want to reduce the visual prominence of your lens against a suitably toned hide or background. The product name identifies both its role as a lens cover and its snoot-style form, so it’s a practical option to consider for hide-based photography. Colour alone can’t make a lens disappear, of course; its usefulness depends on the surroundings and how you position yourself. If your photography regularly takes place from a hide, this is a focused accessory to consider for keeping the lens area more discreet.

Using it at a hide

Think about the view from outside the hide as well as your own comfort inside it. Place the cover on the lens before you’re ready to photograph, then check that the lens area looks suitably subdued from the direction you expect your subject to approach. The light-brown colour is most likely to blend naturally where the hide or nearby surroundings have similar tones. If the scene is very different in colour, don’t rely on the cover alone to conceal the lens.
