Caruba L-Plaat PU-100 1/4 Screw L-Shaped Quick Release Plate
Caruba L-Plaat PU-100 1/4 Screw L-Shaped Quick Release Plate | Switch framing with an L-shaped plate
Caruba L-Plaat PU-100 is an L-shaped quick release plate with a 1/4 screw, built for photographers who want a shaped mounting plate rather than a flat one. Its L form is the defining detail: the plate follows the camera’s base and side, offering a different mounting position for vertical framing. The quick release format suits photographers who change composition often and want a plate that can stay attached between setups. It’s especially relevant to landscape, architecture and portrait work, where keeping your framing steady while switching between horizontal and vertical compositions matters. The 1/4 screw is the stated attachment size, so this description doesn’t assume a particular camera body or head. This is a straightforward accessory, best considered when an L-shaped layout fits the way you compose and mount your camera.
Changing orientation
A shaped plate gives you another position to work with when you move from a horizontal composition to a vertical one. Rather than treating the plate as a simple flat base, the L layout brings the side into the setup too. That’s useful when you want to change orientation while keeping your framing deliberate, especially with architectural lines or a portrait composition that needs careful alignment.
Specialist Note
Switching between horizontal and vertical framing can feel more direct with the L-shaped layout: you have a mounting position along the side as well as the base, instead of relying on a flat plate alone. The 1/4 screw gives you a specific attachment size to match to your setup; I’d choose this plate when that size and its L profile suit the way you mount your camera. For architecture, it can help keep a carefully composed frame from turning into a fresh setup when you change orientation. It also makes sense for portrait work. The honest limitation is that its appeal depends on needing that side position—if you only use a flat mounting arrangement, the L shape may not be useful to you.
