Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 43mm
Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 43mm - Three useful filter effects in one set
Three different filters cover lens protection, reflections and excess light in the Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 43mm. It’s for owners of lenses with a 43mm filter thread who shoot outdoors or make video in changing conditions. The set keeps those jobs separate: use the UV filter as a cover over the lens’s front element, the circular polariser to reduce reflections from a window or water, and the ND8 when strong sun makes a longer exposure difficult. That last filter is also handy when you want to keep a wider aperture in bright weather. Each filter has a protective coating, and the supplied pouch stores the set between outings. It’s a compact way to have three distinct effects ready for landscape views, reflective scenes and bright-day footage, rather than relying on one filter for every situation.
On the lens
- 43mm filter size: The filters are intended for a lens with a 43mm filter thread. Match the thread size on your lens to this measurement.
- UV filter: Ultraviolet sunlight can add a blue cast to daytime images. This filter addresses that tint and also covers the front element as a replaceable protective layer.
- Circular polariser: A CPL filter reduces glare from reflective surfaces, including glass and water. It also increases contrast and colour saturation, with a stronger difference between blue sky and white clouds.
- ND8 filter: This neutral-density filter cuts the light reaching the camera. Use it in bright conditions when you want a wider aperture or a longer shutter speed, such as to soften the appearance of moving water.
- Protective coating: The filters have a multilayer coating intended to protect their surfaces and make cleaning easier.
Specialist Note
New filter owners often expect one filter to solve every outdoor lighting problem; this set separates the tasks into a UV, CPL and ND8 filter. The pouch has space for four filters, so there’s room to keep the supplied three together and carry one more. I’d point this kit towards someone making landscape photographs or video around water and buildings: use the CPL to cut reflections from the scene, then use the ND8 when bright light calls for a slower shutter and a smoother look to moving water. It’s also useful for keeping a wider aperture in sunshine. Just keep the 43mm thread size in mind when choosing which lens to use it on.
