Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 52mm
Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 52mm - three filter effects for a 52mm lens thread
Reduce glare on water, keep bright sunlight in check, or add a protective layer over your lens: the Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 52mm brings three different filter effects together for a lens with a 52mm filter thread. It’s a compact set for outdoor photography, with options for handling reflections, strong light and ultraviolet colour effects. The circular polarising filter reduces reflections from surfaces such as windows and water, while increasing contrast and colour saturation. The ND8 filter cuts the light reaching the camera, so you can work with a wide aperture in bright conditions or use a longer shutter speed to make moving water look smoother. The UV filter addresses the bluish cast that ultraviolet sunlight can create in daytime photographs, and also covers the lens’s front element. A carrying pouch keeps the filters together between shoots.
Filter effects and finish
- UV filter: Ultraviolet light can add a blue cast to daytime images. The filter also sits in front of the lens as a replaceable layer of protection for its front element.
- Circular polariser: The CPL reduces reflections from glass and water. It also boosts contrast and colour saturation, including the distinction between a blue sky and white clouds.
- ND8 filter: This neutral-density filter reduces incoming light. That’s useful in strong sun when you want to keep a wide aperture, or to use a longer exposure for a smoother rendering of moving water.
- Protective multilayer coating: Each filter has a coating intended to protect its surface and make cleaning easier. That’s welcome when filters are handled regularly outdoors.
- Four-filter pouch: The supplied case stores the three filters and has space for one more. It keeps the set together and helps guard the filters against scratches while travelling.
Specialist Note
Reflections and harsh daylight can get in the way of the picture you’re trying to make; this kit gives you a specific filter for each problem. For a shop window or pond, choose the CPL to reduce reflected light and bring out contrast in the scene. In strong sun, the ND8 cuts light so you can keep a wider aperture or use a longer shutter speed for softer-looking moving water. The 52mm thread makes this the right set for a lens with that filter size. I’d recommend it to outdoor photographers who value these three effects in one pouch. There’s room for a fourth filter, but it isn’t included.
