Cokin Filter X123F Gradual Blue B2-FULL
Cokin Filter X123F Gradual Blue B2-FULL | Add a blue gradation to your scene
Without a filter, adding blue to just part of a photograph usually means making a selective adjustment later. The Cokin Filter X123F Gradual Blue B2-FULL is a colour filter named for its gradual blue effect, intended for scenes where you want that colour to build across part of the frame rather than appear as an even tint. It’s most relevant to landscape photographers working with a pale or colourless-looking sky, particularly over a coastline or open horizon. Compose with the area you want to affect in mind, so the blue falls where it helps the picture rather than over an unrelated foreground. This filter gives you a direct way to introduce that blue gradation while making the photograph. Its purpose is quite specific: it’s for shaping the colour in a scene, not for general protection or a neutral change to the image.
Specialist Note
For a washed-out sky above a blue shoreline, I’d consider the X123F as a way to bring more blue into that part of the frame. The “Gradual Blue” name is the key: it points to a colour effect that transitions across the image, rather than a uniformly blue result. B2-FULL is the version designation, so use that exact name when you’re comparing this filter with another Cokin option. I’d compose with the sky taking the area you want coloured, keeping the transition away from foreground details. It suits landscape work best; the honest limitation is that a blue gradation won’t suit every sky or every scene.
