Cokin Nuances Extreme Infra-Red IR 720 - X Serie
Cokin Nuances Extreme Infra-Red IR 720 - X Serie | For infrared-focused images
Its specialist purpose is clear from the name: the Cokin Nuances Extreme IR 720 is an infrared filter, not a general-purpose colour filter. It suits photographers who want to explore infrared image-making and have a particular effect in mind, from considered landscape studies to architectural scenes and more experimental compositions. “IR 720” identifies the infrared direction, while “X Serie” identifies its place in Cokin’s range—useful details when narrowing down a specialist filter. Reach for it when infrared is central to the picture you’re planning, rather than as an everyday option for adjusting colour. For a landscape, you might build the composition around foliage and open sky; for architecture, strong shapes can give the frame structure. It’s a focused tool with a clear creative role. If you want to work specifically with infrared, this is a direct starting point; for conventional colour effects, look elsewhere in the filter range.
Specialist Note
720 is the practical cue in this product’s name: it identifies the filter as an infrared-focused option, so I’d choose it when that effect is the point of the image. The X Serie name is worth keeping in view when you’re comparing Cokin filters; it helps you identify the particular series, rather than treating this as an unspecified filter. For a landscape, include foliage and sky in your composition; for an architectural study, use the lines and shapes of the building as your subject. This suits someone with a deliberate interest in infrared work. It’s specialised, so I wouldn’t choose it for routine colour correction.
