Digit@l 72-77mm StepUp Ring

Digit@l 72-77mm StepUp Ring | Use a larger filter on a smaller thread

Without a step-up ring, matching a filter to a lens usually means finding one with the same thread size. The Digit@l 72-77mm StepUp Ring offers another route: it joins a 72mm lens thread to a 77mm filter thread. That can suit you if you already own a larger screw-on filter and want to use it on a lens with the smaller thread. It’s a straightforward adapter rather than an optical accessory; its job is to connect those two sizes. For a kit built around screw-on filters, that may mean carrying fewer duplicate filters. The honest limitation is in the name: this is a step-up, moving from the smaller thread to the larger one. It won’t solve a mismatch in the opposite direction.

Think of it as a thread-size bridge, not a filter in its own right. The ring doesn’t provide a filtering effect; the filter you attach remains responsible for the result. Its practical value is sharing a larger-thread filter with a lens that has a smaller thread, instead of needing a separate filter in every size. Keep the direction in mind when planning a setup: step-up means smaller to larger. If the filter and lens threads are the other way around, this is not the matching arrangement. That distinction is the key point when choosing this ring, and it makes the role of the two sizes clear. It’s a simple part, but the size relationship matters.
